ANXIETY
Do you worry frequently, feeling overwhelmed by racing and intrusive thoughts?
Whether you have mild-to-severe anxiety, I provide a number of therapeutic methods to help you learn how to “turn down the noise” and find relief from constant pervasive thoughts.
By providing Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Somatic Processing, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based techniques, I can help you learn to manage your anxiety and feel more in control. You can learn to sleep better, feel more anchored in your decision-making, and develop techniques to support you when you feel social anxiety.
That includes supporting clients in managing, slowing down, and reducing the number and severity of panic attacks.
Therapy is a great opportunity to tackle longstanding patterns and issues.
CHRONIC PAIN
If you have chronic pain, it’s likely you have tried many approaches to resolve it- medication, physical therapy, surgery, injections and more. New research in neuroscience shows that certain kinds of pain (neuroplastic) can be reduced and reversed with Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT).
I use a clinically proven system of psychological techniques that retrain the brain to interpret and respond to signals from the body properly, breaking the cycle of neuroplastic chronic pain, the leading cause of pain in the U.S.
Normally when we injure ourselves, the body sends signals to the brain informing us of tissue damage, and we feel pain. But sometimes, the brain can make a mistake by telling us we feel pain long after it can be linked to structural damage. This is called Neuroplastic Pain. This pain is not “all in your head”; it is quite real.
As shown by recent studies, neuroplastic pain can include:
- chronic back pain
- neck pain,
- fibromyalgia symptoms
- repetitive strain injuries
- migraines and other headaches,
- frequent night-time urination
And now, we can help you reduce and reverse pain with a specific counseling protocol which is eye-opening, informative and effective. Learn more about this process here.
LIVING WITH CHALLENGES/TRANSITIONS
There are times in our lives when we are thrown curveballs or we find ourselves having to adapt to a new, difficult issue.
This could mean emerging health challenges, changing a career, becoming a caretaker for children or older adults, or adapting to any life change.
At these times, we may feel trapped, even hopeless, which can interfere with our “normal” functioning.
If you are in such a situation, you will benefit from having counseling support to:
- Engage with a professional to help you process events
- Help you maintain a realistic perspective and balance during difficult emotional times
- Find new ways to move forward with a plan as you integrate life-changes into your life
ISSUES OF AGING
Reimaging the Aging Process in New Ways
We are all aging and some of us have a better time of it than others.
The aging population in the U.S. is growing at unprecedented rates and is expected to double by 2060. This new paradigm brings associated new challenges with it. We see many older adults choosing to stay healthy and active, either in the workforce or otherwise.
But we have not had many societal or family role models to teach us to accept the aging process and the challenges it brings. No one showed us to embrace it in ways that are constructive and productive.
If you are having issues around aging, do not underestimate the value of being able to express and process your thoughts and emotions. We have worked with older adults facing a myriad of challenges including disease, pain, maintaining independence, loneliness and more.
